So after having so many rubygems and other binary problems i decided that I now know a hell of alot more about system administration than i did when i started over two years ago, and I should just start over with a clean slate. I always back up all my work using Time Machine, and I followed these directions on how to do the disk erase. The whole process of erasing and installing took about 35 minutes.

Once I got the fresh install, i used the migration assistant to transfer all my applications to my clean computer which worked took quite awhile but was an amazing experience. I clicked go, and a few hours later all of my applications were correctly installed and working. For some reason the migration assistant didn’t copy my music, desktop, or documents as i had selected, but that was quickly remedied with a trip into my Time Machine. After having gone through so many windows XP reformats, i found this process relatively painless, much quicker and much easier.

I really appreciated the attention to detail from the company and developers, all-in-all i’ll chock up another point for a great user experience with mac.
