So, it took me about a week to make my first extension for firefox, spamfire. Maybe i’m a little slow, or whatever, but it took me exactly two days to make the same thing in chrome…not too bad. I haven’t uploaded it anywhere yet, when I do i’ll let you know.
The firefox extension help is a little difficult to navigate, but the chrome extension help makes tons of sense. You can test out your extension changes without having to zip your folder and change the extension. All in all it was a wonderful experience. Of course you still don’t see the same depth of capability with chrome extensions. I imagine you won’t soon see an Adblock extension, or a download a youtube video in the chrome extension library, and of course as of december 16h 2009 the chrome version of mac still doesn’t support extensions.
So that being said, the real winner is you. Two very powerful browsers with extensions, hopefully firefox can learn from chrome and vice versa, then everyone wins! Now if only my pages I spend so long crafting in a standards compliment browser like firefox or safari looked right in IE, i could rest easy.
P.S. Does anyone know how to say in russian, “I won’t approve your comment spams?”
