Do Not Stay At LaQuinta

Don't stay at laquinta

When I was headed off to my buisness trip, a co-worker of mine mentioned that when he was a kid his dad had him convinced that LaQuinta was spanish for “next to shoneys”. And while I haven’t stayed at a LaQuinta next to a Shoney’s yet, i have stayed at two LaQuintas that google ads (not the websites just the ads) were taking 30-45 seconds to load. Not to mention that I was actually banned from the LaQuinta network at one point and time for “using too much bandwidth”. It took me about 30 minutes of troubleshooting to figure out that I had oversteped some imaginary data threshold that LaQuinta forgot to mention existed.

After all that LaQuinta is telling me that even after putting up with their horrible internet for 12 days, that I don’t have enough points for a free night. I normally don’t complain about free stuff, but this is just crazy. The hotel i’m staying in costs 18, 000 points for a night at this particular location (cost per night is $90), and you get 10 points per dollar spent. So 18,000 points at 10 points per dollar at 90 dollars a night…I would have to stay two-thirds of a month inorder to get just one night free. Yep, a whole 20 days. Compare that to comfort suites that is currently offering 1 night free after 3 nights stay. So to get one night free in a LaQuinta, I could get nearly a whole week free a comfort suites. WOW.
